This is the official CSIO Barcelona 2021 poster

Three months before the start of the CSIO Barcelona 2021, the oldest international sporting competition in Spain, the event organisers have released the new official poster. The outbreak of the pandemic forced the cancellation of the previous international show jumping competition and the presentation of the new image is the beginning of a long-awaited and exciting countdown that will end on October 1st.

After the success of previous posters created by young artists such as Conrad Roset (2018) and Julián García Hernández (2019), this year the CSIO Barcelona has decided to once again rely on the talent of a young Catalan creative. The event organisers have entrusted the artist and graphic designer Clara Mercader, artistically known as María Diamantes.

Her work is based on simple elements, minimalist, basic illustrations, with powerful and soft colours. Her work is a synthesis of shapes. A reduced palette and clean silhouettes are the basis for her unique style. Most of her projects are inspired by nature and beauty.

As an artist she has reached a wide range of audiences, willing to adapt her forms, textures, colours and techniques to each of her projects.

Clara studied graphic design, did a master's degree in communication strategies and went on to work as a creative and art director for an advertising agency. From there she created her own brand, María Diamantes, and started designing and illustrating. Major companies such as Volkswagen, Amazon and Barcelona City Council have collaborated with her.

"With the design of this poster I wanted to convey a sporty, dynamic and feminine attitude. I liked the idea of subtly making it look like the horse is jumping over Barcelona," says Clara. "The use of soft tones helped me to bring serenity to the image, and thus, together with the other values, to find a final harmony with a strong and clearly recognisable personality".

From October 1st to 3rd, Barcelona will once again become the world capital of equestrianism with the celebration of the 109th International Show Jumping Competition. For the eighth year in a row, the CSIO Barcelona will host the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ Final, the most important equestrian event on the international equestrian calendar.
