Team Canada have claimed the first round of the Longines FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final held this afternoon at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. The Canadians were the only squad to complete three perfect rounds in the second class of the 106th edition of the CSIO Barcelona. The other seven teams that booked a ticket to the big final, which will take place on Saturday at 21pm at the Olympic arena are the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Sweden. Although they received the same penalties as Belgium and Sweden, Ireland was left out of the final due to their time.
On the other hand, the Spanish team was not able to qualify for the final. The squad formed by Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Gerardo Menéndez, Laura Roquet and Julio Arias paid a high price for their mistakes and took the 15th position, which means they will compete in the Longines Challenge Cup, the consolation final, on Friday night.
