The International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) and Longines have announced today the creation of two new awards that will be given at the end of the season: best rider of the season and best horse. In a press conferenced held during the CSIO Barcelona, the FEI President, Ingmar de Vos, and the Marketing Vice President of Longines, Juan-Carlos Capelli, have once again confirmed the great harmony between the two entities, after signing an agreement last month that made Longines the title partner of the Nations Cup.
The Longines FEI Awards to the Best Rider and Horse will be given at the end of the season, in January. The award for Best Rider will go out to the the leader of the Longines ranking, whereas the best horse will be the one to complete the best ten courses during the season. Referring to this, Ingmar de Vos underlined that "we are going to reward two athletes: the man and the horse. The two of them are equally important and deserve the same degree of recognition."
