Brazilian rider Stephan de Freitas has won the La Vanguardia Trophy, the second class of the day at the Olympic track of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. Riding Chevaux Hep Lup Imperio Egipcio, the Brazilian rider was the fastest of the ten participants who completed the course without penalty, beating the second classified by more than two seconds. This second place went to the German Richard Vogel, riding Cydello, while the Portuguese Nuno Tiago Gomes, with Chaccora's Stakko Ps, completed the podium.
Primitivo Nieves, with Jay Van't Berlohof, was the best Spanish representative in the La Vanguardia Trophy, achieving the seventh final position.
