CSIO Barcelona 2024 closes its curtain after a record-breaking edition with 40,000 attendees

On Sunday, Germany won the Longines League of Nations at the Olympic arena of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, the legendary Nations Cup, or in other words: the most important team equestrian jumping competition after the Olympic Games and World Championships. This event also marked the grand finale of the 112th edition of the International Show Jumping Competition, CSIO Barcelona, which achieved record-breaking figures.

A total of 40,000 attendees enjoyed the competition and the entertainment offer of PoloPark by Calvet throughout the four days of CSIO Barcelona, which had extensive national and international media coverage and accredited 190 journalists. Spanish Television (Teledeporte) and Televisió de Catalunya (Esports 3) broadcasted various events, and the grand final of the Nations Cup, the Longines League of Nations, was shown in more than 100 countries.

For four days, the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona transformed to host this event, which included 96 athletes from 19 countries and their 144 horses (who, as a fun fact, made 6,000 jumps throughout the competition days). A total of 300 workers ensured the success of the organization of CSIO Barcelona 2024, which served up to 2,500 meals in the stands between Thursday and Sunday.

The Olympic arena of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona saw athletes like Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann with his magnificent horse King Edward, and Germany’s Christian Kukuk, champion with his team of the Longines League of Nations 2024 and gold medalist at the Paris Games with his horse Checker 47, who didn’t hesitate to state, “It’s always a pleasure to come to Barcelona because of the city, the warm weather, and the calm atmosphere that allows us to work comfortably in these facilities. I enjoyed it last year when I also won the title, and I’m looking forward to competing here again next year.”
